Who We Are
The Waterloo Fire Department is a 100% volunteer organization dedicated to providing fire and rescue services to the village of Waterloo and its surrounding areas.
Our officers provide hands-on training to our members, ensuring they have the necessary skills to handle situations that arise. We are committed to keeping our community safe and strive to provide the best service possible.
Burn Permits
Burn permits can be obtained online with the link below for a convenience fee that covers the cost of the service.

Who can obtain a burn permit?
Only residents living in the Village of Waterloo or the Waterloo Rural Fire District can obtain a permit. Permits are conditional burn ban notifications will be communicated.

How can I obtain a burn permit?
You may register online using the link below, or you can visit us in person.

What can I burn?
Please only burn wood, wood by-products (cardboard, paper etc.) or leaves. Starting a nuisance fire that creates excessive black smoke is not allowed.

Do I need a permit?
If you want to have an open-air fire beyond what would be considered a recreational fire pit, then yes, you need an approved permit. If you are having a barbecue, or using a fire pit, it is not required.
